*** Christmas Fair Postponed***

Unfortunately we have had to close our Infant Department this week. This is due to a serious leak in the central heating system in school, needing excavation work in one corner of the Infant Hall. The work combined with the cold weather has meant that the Infant School has had to be closed.

The effect of this is that the planned visit by Oakdale Silver Band and our Christmas Fair have been postponed - the new date for your Diary is Thursday 7th December, letters should have come home with your child today with this news.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you all on Thursday of next week.

**Christmas Fayre and Silver Band**

Dates for your Christmas Diary ( Part 1)

As we head towards December 1st on Friday the build up to Christmas is about to begin. First news that on Wednesday afternoon after school the 'Friends of Cefn Fforest'  committee have a meeting and would welcome any parent ( or grandparent for that matter) who is willing to help out at events not only over Christmas but throughout the Year. ( The Friends are currently organising the Christmas Fayre and Raffle, along with a Christmas Disco which will take place before the end of term ( date to follow).

On Friday 1st December we will once again welcome the Oakdale Silver Band who will be playing Christmas Carols on the Infant Playground from around 3pm until the Christmas Fayre ( in the Infant Hall) begins at around 3.40pm. All parents, brothers, sisters, friends and relatives are welcome to join the staff and pupils of the school as we welcome in the Festive Season with some traditional singing.

Why not make an afternoon of it by moving from the yard into the Infant Hall for the Annual Christmas Fayre, where there will be stalls, fun and games for a further hour after school.

What a Brilliant Way to start CHRISTMAS 2006

** On Tuesday 5th December our Year 3 pupils will be walking down the Blackwood Miners Institute after lunch to watch an afternoon performance of The Snowman ( This sounds like another wonderful opportunity for our children)- hter will be a nominal fee of £1 for the performance. ** letters will be out to Year 3 pupils on Wednesday 29th November**

The next Diary Dates will give you dates and times for school performances, concerts, disco and parties.... so keep watching.

Tiny Ted hits the Beach in New Zealand

As you may or may not be aware Class 3H have sent a Tiny Teddy Bear to our friends in New Zealand. He has been sending us regular photographs of what he has been up to from visiting a horse called 'Lucky'  belonging to Gloria.

To  a meeting with some Moscovy Ducklings, later in the week.

All of this activity has certainly made us in Class 3H a liitle bit envious of Tiny Ted, however this weekend Ted has had an absolutely brilliant time in and around his adoptive home of Nelson. Nelson is on the northern tip of the South Island. Ted has been to the Fisherman's Memorial in Nelson harbour.

medium_ted_at_fishermans_memorial.jpgThe weather as you can see is beautiful, as New Zealand enters its summer.

Where else would you go on a lovely day, but to the beach, Tiny Ted took his tiny towel, picnic bag and sun umbrella with him for his visit to medium_ted_at_tahananui_beach.jpgTahananui Beach, where as you can see he stopped to 'catch some rays' in the sunshine.

As is the custom at the seaside he had an ice cream, from his new friend Trevor on Rabbit Island.

medium_ted_has_ice_cream_from_trevor_on_rabbit_island.jpgIt was delicious!!!

After a quick Ginger Beer ( apparently he asked for a ginger bear!!!)

It was time to set off back home.

In order to have a rest before the new school week where no doubt he is going to be visiting some of his new friends houses to meet their families - you can keep in touch with his adventures on his website ( the link is on the left hand side of the page)

Message from Ted - " I am having a lovely time - wish you were here!!"

School Hall Becomes and Art Gallery

medium_DSCF4435.JPG

Both the Infant and Junior Hall ( above) were transformed today into an Art Gallery by the gentleman from 'Images'. 3 weeks ago all classes submitted art using a variety of media to be mounted displayed and hopefully eventually sold ( at a reasonable £6 for a framed original piece of artwork).

It certainly brightened up the school as the display was both bright and colourful and attracted a good response from parents at the end of the school day.

Members of the Year 6 News Team were certainly excited by the display and you can expect a report to be written for our Making the News project within the next few days.

Half Term Break nearly over !!!!

Yes I'm afraid to say that today Friday 2nd November is the last day of the Autumn Half Term Break at CFP. So make the most of the weekend to get out (even in the cold !!!)- make sure that this weekend you are careful to observe the Firework Code and please let an adult open and light Fireworks - Be Safe.

As of next Monday 6th November we will all be back in school preparing to give our all as we approach the dark nights of November/December, building up to the magical time of Christmas at Cefn Fforest Primary. There are many exciting things coming up this Half Term and I would urge you not only to make sure that you read all letters coming from school but also 'BookMark' this page in order to ensure that you can be first to here any new snippets of information that may emerge as we head towards the festive season.

All of the teachers and support staff hope that all pupils have had a good break and will be ready willing and able to make progress in the next few weeks - we are all sure that you can.

We will see everyone on Monday morning promptly for the bell @ 9.00 a.m. !!!
